I booked this tour with Headout due in part to the positive reviews. The tour in fact was excellent, well organized and with pickup from the meeting point at the time indicated in the reservation. No big wait, well paced times with even small useful breaks for coffee. The only note is that it was difficult to find the right van because no license plate or anything else is given in the confirmation email.

The tour was very well organized. Our driver was friendly and knowledgeable. He also translated for us on the tour. Auschwitz-Birkenau was a powerful experience. Parts felt a little rushed- but there is so much to see, and they are large sites to cover in the amount of time allotted. That being said, I learned so much and appreciated how our guide shared the stories about what happened here. The salt mines were a wonderful experience as well! The sculptures are beautiful, and the tour sharing the history of the mines was very interesting. I would highly recommend this tour.

By Bus: From Krakow MDA Bus Station, there are four bus carriers that run between Krakow and Auschwitz and will drop you off at the Auschwitz I camp.

There is a lot of walking involved. Wear comfortable shoes and carry plenty of drinking water. Both camps have limited disabled access, and there are only a few spots inside to sit and rest.
Ensure your backpack or handbag does not exceed dimensions: 30x20x10 cm. There are lockers available for a small fee, but they tend to get full during peak season.
